FAQ

Do I need any prior knowledge of Japanese?

No. I teach complete beginners as well as intermediate and advanced learners. During the trial lesson, we will assess your level and decide the best approach for you.

What kind of Japanese do you teach?

We focus on practical, communicative Japanese that you can actually use. Lessons include speaking, listening, reading, and basic writing, always adapted to your goals. Cultural context is an essential part of my teaching.

I’m interested in Japanese art and culture. Are lessons suitable for me?

Yes. In addition to general Japanese lessons, I offer specialised lessons and consultations for artists, art students, and cultural professionals. These can focus on art-related vocabulary, museum and gallery contexts, artist statements, or understanding the Japanese art scene.

What happens in the trial lesson?

The trial lesson is a full 45-minute session. We will:

  • Talk about your background, interests, and goals
  • Check your current Japanese level
  • Do a short lesson so you can experience my teaching style

After the lesson, I will suggest the best learning plan for you.

Do I have to book a package after the trial lesson?

No. There is no obligation. You can decide whether to continue with single lessons or a package, or not continue at all.

Why is the single lesson more expensive than the package?

The 5-lesson package offers a discounted rate for learners who want continuity and structured progress. Single lessons are priced higher because they require more preparation and do not follow a long-term learning plan.

How often should I take lessons?

Most learners take lessons once a week. Some prefer twice a week for faster progress, while others choose a more flexible schedule. We can decide together what works best for you.

What language are the lessons taught in?

Lessons are primarily taught in English, with Japanese introduced gradually depending on your level.
